Do You Have a Hobby Besides Poker? 🎣🃏

Hey CardChat family! 👋

I was just thinking the other day… poker takes so much of my time, energy, and focus, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little break, right? So here’s my question: do you guys have hobbies outside of poker?

For me, my hobby is… fishing. 🎣 Yeah, I know, it sounds kind of funny. Sitting by the river, waiting for that one perfect catch, feels a lot like sitting at the table waiting for pocket aces. The patience, the excitement, and sometimes the disappointment when nothing bites… it’s basically poker, but with water! 😂

But here’s the twist: in poker, I still feel like I am the fish! 🐟 At least for now. So while I’m out there fishing, I imagine the bigger players at the tables reeling me in. Hopefully one day I’ll level up and stop being the fish both at the river and at the poker table. Until then, I’m swimming along, trying to survive the sharks! 🦈

Still, fishing gives me balance. It calms my mind after bad beats and coolers, and it reminds me that life isn’t only about the grind. Plus, it gives me funny stories to share here with you all.

Я тут как раз на днях подумал… покер отнимает у меня столько времени, энергии и сосредоточенности, но иногда приятно немного отдохнуть, правда? И вот мой вопрос: есть ли у вас хобби помимо покера?

Моё хобби — это… рыбалка. 🎣 Да, знаю, звучит забавно. Сидеть у реки в ожидании идеального улова — всё равно что сидеть за игровым столом в ожидании карманных тузов. Терпение, волнение, а иногда и разочарование, когда ничего не клюёт… по сути, это покер, только с водой! 😂

Но вот в чём загвоздка: в покере я всё ещё чувствую себя рыбой! 🐟 По крайней мере, пока. Поэтому, пока я ловлю рыбу, я представляю, как более крупные игроки за столами меня вытаскивают. Надеюсь, когда-нибудь я поднимусь и перестану быть рыбой как на реке, так и за покерным столом. А пока я плыву по течению, пытаясь выжить среди акул! 🦈

Тем не менее, рыбалка даёт мне душевное равновесие. Она успокаивает после неудач и перебоев и напоминает, что жизнь — это не только рутина. К тому же, она дарит мне забавные истории, которыми я могу поделиться с вами.

I read, peruse talk boards centered on things I enjoy like CC, I instruct at gun safety seminars for new gun owners and other people, and sometimes I get to do a little shooting for myself.

Yes! Besides poker, I really enjoy fishing. It’s a relaxing way to clear my mind, enjoy nature, and practice patience — qualities that, interestingly, also help at the poker table.
