Maybe it’s a mix: science builds the game, logic shapes the play, but luck decides the story.

So when you gamble, what do you trust more – math, skill, or luck?
Very well said, so eventually I trust math/science, skill and hope for a luck.

What do you trust the most? – your brain, the math, or pure luck? As an Engineer by profession, I have always wondered whether I can crack the games using pure science. So, let’s first split them up:

**Science** is in every game. The wheel, the dice, the cards – all run on math and probability, with the house edge built in.

**Logic** is in how we play. Smart moves, bankroll control, and strategy matter, but one bad card can ruin it.

**Luck** is the mystery. A beginner can hit the jackpot while a pro walks away broke.

Maybe it’s a mix: science builds the game, logic shapes the play, but luck decides the story.

So when you gamble, what do you trust more – math, skill, or luck? For me, I feel it’s my brain clubbed with luck, while it can vary depending upon the game we play.

PS: This is my 300th post on Cardschat - help me celebrate the milestone 😁😁
In my opinion, poker is a combination of skill, experience and luck. These three components are fundamental and will determine a player's results. An experienced player has the same chances of luck as a beginner, but an experienced player has skills that significantly increase their effectiveness.

I think it's a mix of all three, but since the question is which one I trust the most, it is math and is not even close for me.

I trust mathematics. It's not logical to rely on luck :)
I rely on knowledge and discipline because that guarantees that the game will at least bring me pleasure and I won't experience negative emotions.

Is trusting luck like playing bingo?
I trust my own knowledge and experience, which I have used to acquire skills and gradually improve them :)
I never rely on anyone but myself.

Apart from mathematics, I don't trust anything else. Mathematics is the basis for everything and, first and foremost, the basis for good play. Intuition, luck, experience — all these factors are important, but without mathematics they are worthless.

It's true that you don't control the cards, but you definitely control the way you play them. So, I cannot agree with you when you say: "It's all luck".
Exactly.

A different view from majority, good to know.

I've had over 2700 and others a great deal more. Talk of milestones when you reach one.

As for your question, trust no one or nothing.

Being a new member here (having spent less than a month or so), it was indeed a milestone for me at 300. Of course, it could differ between individuals. 😇

Well, I have to trust my brain, that's it's doing the right maths. And good luck is always welcome.
