So sad, RIP to all the victims and hopefully none of the injured die from their wounds.

Another horrible terrorist mass shooting, it's so sad that this has become the norm in the USA . Horrified and saddened at the loss of life.

It's sickening at how many innocent lives were affected with weapons that shouldn't be in civilian hands.

Thoughts for the victims and their families. What type of POS does this, he had everything he could of wanted??

A gutless POS that believes in his 2nd amendment right to stockpile inappropriate military style automatic weapons, along with the help of the greedy NRA and the gutless greedy politicians.

These incidents will continue until your country does something about it, but as always the mighty $ and the lack of wanting to amend the amendment is a higher priority than safety of the people.

It's all so sad and scary.. just seems like it is happening more and more all the time and shows no signs of ending:( every wacko that sees this will probably want to top this shooting and create an even bigger one that's what keeps happening:(.... the politicians will talk and talk and still do nothing probably. I don't know why people need all these guns:(

What is the world coming to. I do not feel safe travelling abroad, thats for sure. All those innocent people killed or injured for no reason. I'm not even sure there is a solution.

Today I saw this news in the news on TV. Honestly, I was in shock. Where our world is rolling, it seems the end of the world, which was predicted many times already, manifests itself exactly in this. People themselves exterminate themselves and do not need any catastrophes or meteorites. I really want everything to go well and people become kinder and more humane. Condolences to the families of the deceased. I hope this will not happen again.

It was fairly simple, the collective thinking of the nation saw that automatic weapons and high capacity magazines were not needed for what we have firearms for, emptying a 30 or higher round magazine into a rabbit or a kangaroo or deer may tenderise the meat, but what is left isn't worth eating. ;)

You're nation needs to wake up and collectively come to the same conclusion, this BS about "it's my 2nd amendment right" and personal protection is just that, it's BS, remove the inappropriate weapons and the fear will go away with it, after all you all are Americans, why do Americans like to kill each other, we had 3 incidents within a 10 year period and when the biggest and last one happened 21 years ago the nation said enough is enough and the people handed in their unwanted and inappropriate firearms which were then destroyed.

We also see firearms as a privilege and not a right, as it should be, just like a drivers licence.

We also saw that handguns were never needed by the public, and we never had access to them legally, we don't have to think "well if they have a handgun then I must have a handgun for protection"

There's also the fact that we don't see any need to go around shooting our fellow countrymen for sport, like the drive by shooting problems you guys have.

This POS had 23 firearms in his hotel room and they found many more at his home, how is that stockpiling allowed to happen, he was also emptying 100 round mags by the sound of some of the reports I have heard, personally I think a 3 round magazine is sufficient for hunting, what happened to 1 shot 1 kill, if the first shot missed and the shooter is in danger from that animal defending itself then the hunter has 2 more shots to protect themselves, if that isn't enough then wtf is that person a hunter for, they clearly are useless.

Another way to look at it is that we were willing to give up the inappropriate firearms, even tell the NRA to F off and stop meddling in something that didn't concern them and that they were scared of spreading to the US.

The people have to want it and band together for it to become a reality, but human life in the USA doesn't compare to your bill of rights and the defence of it.

But it's appropriate to pin the blame on uninvolved parties? The ISIS claim is being roundly questioned. Muslims were also initially blamed for the attacks.

I don't understand it. Everyone is keen to find out what went wrong and institute preventive measures in any kind of emergency. And if this isn't and appropriate time to engage in a constructive debate on gun control then when is? To know that every cause behind what went wrong is being investigated, you'd think, would give some solace to the families of those affected.

Aussies like Zorba will obviously know more but to the uninitiated, like me, here's a great piece on gun control done by John Stewart and John Oliver.

And the First Amendment:

Obviously it's way too soon to petition the government to support the people's right to peaceably assemble
(like say, at a country music show)
or secure the general welfare (like not dying for doing so)
or insure domestic tranquility (like not being shot by our fellow country men)
or to provide for the common defence (like not being shot by our fellow country men)
or to protect out certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
(basically having the freedom to peaceably assemble at a music festival without losing your Life in pursuit of
one's happiness)

All because of the afterthought called the second amendment:
A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I guess I missed the news report as to which "well-regulated militia" this arsehole was a member of...
And I can't seem to find the version that mentions high-capacity magazines and "bump-stocks" :dontknow:
