Should casinos be legally required to cap session times on slots to prevent addiction, or is it every player's responsibility to know when to quit?

I always wonder about this—should casinos be legally required to cap session times on slots to prevent addiction, or is it really up to the player to know when to walk away? If the house already designs games to keep people hooked, doesn’t some of the responsibility fall back on them? But at the same time, can you really legislate self-control?

I honestly think capping sessions could be a good option. At least it would force breaks. When I hear people talk about casinos, I think of the diaper-wearers—people who literally don’t get up from their machines—and it makes me shudder. If I ever went into a casino, I’d probably circle the area first just to make sure I wasn’t sitting near that.

Would session caps actually protect vulnerable players, or would people just find workarounds and gamble even harder? And if casinos profit most from players who don’t quit, would they ever support rules like that without being forced?

So is this about protecting people from the system—or protecting the system from itself?

I think it’s everyone responsibility. If you can’t handle it then you should stay away from casinos. And capping session will be not so easy to implement. The players can still find another casino if they reach limit in one casino and play there

I think it's every players responsibility....,

addictive personalities would find a way around any restriction,

... don't actually think it's a bad idea to have a time limit but don't think that will ever happen

It would be really hard to regulate, if they change tables, or change games how would they know.

In a place like Vegas someone might gamble at multiple casinos.

Just wear a raincoat so you won't get splashed ;)

Why would they do that? It's not in their best interest. Well, I think they should warn people about possible addiction, at least in our country. When I see casino ads, they have a big warning about possible addiction.
