I decided yesterday that I was going to play my home tourney in a diffrent "mindset". I was going to only "play" my opponets cards. I know this is some thing that you should do anyway but i've found that in the heat of battle/easy going nature of our home game that it can be difficult to do. As the hands were played out, if i was in it or not, i was contuing to ask myself "If that was me, what would i need to bet that flop/turn/raise ect.
What i found it did was make my starting hands a lot tighter. I made some excellent laydowns with hands i might have called without doing this. the draw back was i think i was tending to give my opponets too much credit for their hands. I try very hard to get my hands in with "the best of it" I hate going in as an underdog knowingly. It seemed to take the gamble out of poker for me.
There for i was blinded out/fold hands and didn't take any money for the first time in 2 months. I know it is a work in progress but my question is. If i put my opponet on a range of hands that are slightly better/coin flip than mine. Is not playing the hand wrong?
