What are the best styles for playing cash games? I believe that observing the initial plays is the best strategy to face the right opponent.

Range refining your Villains is one of the best strategies for success yes. In poker language though "style" means TAG or LAG or Maniac or Passive.
It may just be a language issue for you but when others ask about style of play the above is what they mean.

TAG by default, but adjust according to villain(s). Play exploitatively when possible.
Also beware of your own table image.

I play TAG and then adjust to each table(I double table)/villain separately to exploit them. And as blueskies said above beware and be carful of your own table image and how other players view you.
