Is it normal in Pineapple OFC for your chips to be locked once a hand starts, with no option to leave the game mid-hand? A friend of mine lost $20 because he didn’t know the rules and couldn’t exit after joining the table. Is this standard behavior for OFC, or does it vary by site?

From what I understand, once the dealer begins dealing, if you have not indicated that you are sitting out to leave the table, you are locked into playing that hand. You cannot leave once a hand starts, but what I'm not understanding is how did your friend lose the $20? Was that an ante or did he bet, and then intend to leave? I think we need more context, but once a hand starts, you can't leave the table regardless of the game.

My friend :
...poker A RIP OFF! I was sitting at OFC table at it's literally just taking $1.25 from me every hand and wont let me leave. If they don't refund me me the $15 cash dollar, plus $5 I lost from not playing 1 hand. I'm done with the site.
Me:
Write down the details of what happened for me, and if you have any screenshots or anything else, send them too so I can talk to them tomorrow.
My friend:
I am. It literally had me sitting out, but was still taking money from me playing the hands for me. Foul every hand.
I closed the software, and reopened it after losing the first 2 hands to everything gone except $7.10. So my whole buy-in of $20 gone.
Me:
Ok . I will talk with support tomorrow
Support :

It is a common mistake of players that they are not aware that it is not always possible to leave an OFC game. It depends on the stage of the game.

Is it possible that this happened?

Or is he fully familiar with OFC rules, and still believes something happened incorrectly?
I’ve also attached the game rules as stated on the site.

"I was the one who referred my friend to this site, and I wouldn’t want him to suffer a loss if a mistake was made by the site. However, in my opinion, the site hasn’t done anything wrong. I created this topic to hear what others think as well."
