Thread 🧵👇

1/
When I first started playing cash games, I was addicted to action.
Every hand looked playable.
Every bluff felt genius.

But my stack kept vanishing.
Until one rule flipped everything…

2/
“Tight is Right.”
I hated hearing it.
I wanted to be a shark — aggressive,
unpredictable.
But the truth? I was just reckless.

3/
The moment I stopped playing junk hands from early position…
The moment I stopped calling just because
I started winning.

4/
Being tight doesn’t mean being weak.
It means choosing your battles — wisely
Raise strong hands. Fold trash. Let others burn their stack.

5/
Poker isn’t about playing more.
It’s about playing better.
Quality over quantity — always.

6/
Since tightening up:
✅ More control over pots
✅ Fewer tough spots
✅ Higher winrate in every session

Simple change. Massive impact.

7/
Want to plug your biggest leak today?

➡️ Cut your VPIP by 20%
➡️ Play more in position
➡️ Value bet with confidence
➡️ Stop chasing every draw
8/
Remember:
You don’t have to be the smartest player.
You just need to be the most disciplined one.

That’s how you win.

although these are common poker advices, it's often challanging for me to follow them all the time

I started a short time ago, I'm applying it to my game and I feel better, but I'm tired of the bads in the river. I try to control the pot I have good hands but they flop on the river in an absurd way.

Thanks a lot for these valuable and practical tips!
Sometimes we focus too much on complex strategies and forget how powerful discipline and solid fundamentals really are. These reminders — especially about playing in position and value betting with confidence — are exactly what I needed. Appreciate the guidance!

Folding is the most important action.
I still struggle with this. Lets say I flop a set and I bet flop and turn and get called. A third heart comes on the river and villain bets pot.
Now I know he probably rivered his flush, but I still call most of the time.

Nice comment, looks like attracting aggressive players to see the flop may be connected to a tight play, but you need to be super managing your stack as compared to the game dynamics over longer periods of time.

I implemented this system and since then my winrate increased by 5000% and now I make 3000$ per session on a bad day.

... is I guess what you want me to say
