Hands per limit

How many hands do you play to win a limit? Example: 50000 to pass Nl2

I'm not a cash player but I don't think it's about the amount of hands rather than the return you're getting, i.e. BBs/hour.

I dont think, it makes a lot of sense to make those kind of rules. If you are considering to move up, the main questions to ask yourself are:

1) Do I think, I can beat the next limit?
2) Do I have enough bankroll to play the next limit?

If you did not yet beat your current limit for a significant amount like 50 BIs, its kind of difficult to give a positive answer to question 1), so in that sense a certain minimum of hands are needed. But maybe you are a winning tournament player already, and you sense, that your current limit is insanely soft. And in that case maybe there is no need to spend a lot of time looking for confirmation, if you can answer yes to question 2).

I think that just playing won’t be enough, you also need to learn.

No hard and fast rules but you need a decent win rate over a reasonable sample size. For soft games like 2NL you probably dont need 50k hands , it should be clear before that if you are beating them and can move up
