$0.25/$0.50 cash game. I’ve got K♠ Q♣ on the button.

Flop: K♥ 8♦ 5♠ – top pair, decent kicker.
BB bets pot, I just call.

Turn: T♦, BB shoves.

Do you call here or fold? Why? 🃏

Some info is missing, but I pressume:
deep stack: 100-200BB
I guess you started pre, standard bet around 3BB, BB called
flop - BB donk bets
Considering the above, I would fold their turn shove. 50NL is a relatively high micro, but still micro - I find it pretty much underbluffed and with this play our KQ is only a bluff catcher - they should have trips or 2 pairs (or a bluff but I would rather loose a little than risk the whole stack).

This is unless I have some reads on the opponent - if I know them as a maniac or tilted, I could consider bluff-catching of course.

I'm likely calling especially if villian has been aggressive.

It's lacking important informations, but it's an easy fold in all normal situations I can think now (too much risk to not too much win rate), specially if you don't have good notes about the villain.

Maybe we could analyse it better if you could bring the replay of this hand and give more informations about previous situations and about his timing to act...

To study this spot we build a range for the BB. As well as what range the BB thinks we have.
we start with preflop card removal--AA KK low % of holdings to just call. AK? How often would BB flat that?
Flop why would V lead pot with AK 88 55? Why not trap? Turn again why shove those hands? It is possible this player plays like that. Have you seen anything that would suggest that? Has this player over bluffed spots or over valued spots so far?
The most likely value hand that we are up against that wants to play like this is 85. Unless they think you do not fold then all the sets are in play. Why would they think you are a calling station? Are there several calling stations on your table?
What hands are we ahead of that play like this? Which has more combos the full value hands or the weak value hands and bluffs

Building a range then asking why would they do X with hands in that range is how we study.

It depends on the effective stack. If you are 40BB deep, you can stack off much wider, than if you are 100BB deep. It also depends on reads on the opponent.

Idk not near enough info has been given....

With that said if this villain is known for this kinda of play I'm folding this time and setting the trap for him to make this play again in the future. In the future I'll be sure to have a monster and snap call. Where as in here we're really gambling. You could be way ahead and he you could be dominated.

Cheers!!!

As others said, need to know at least villain read and stack sizes.

A donk pot sized bet is usually not very strong. 85 would be the most likely hand that he has that could beat you AND play this way. I could see him having a weaker K and donk betting like that, but you have this hand beat.

By the turn, add KT to the short list of hands he could have that could beat you.

Of course, if villain is a guy who just comes out firing when he has a big hand, then fold.

So if it's me, I'd really need to have some type of read on villain's style of play to decide whether to call or muck.

Wouldn't shock me if he had 67.
