LMFAO It's been brought to my attention that maybe I should not post when I haven't been drinking! That was supposed to be:

I have no proof for my opinion that they DID NOT segregate funds because the company was run by baffoons.

Okay. I was beginning to wonder about you. :) As for their stealing of funds, read subject poker, the AGC report and the DOJ's indictments. Pretty much indicates stealing and fraud.

The DOJ seized over $300 million of FTP funds--our funds. So FTP is not the only one who "stole" our money.

It means a lot to those of us who have a large amount of funds tied up at FT! People getting back millions of dollars is more than diddly squat. :)

This cracks me up!

Me too. Like that's proof of anything other than legalized extortion by the DOJ itself. Wasn't Campo let off with a plea to a single misdemeanor after all the scary charges and of course all the Wire Act charges are moot now.

This cracks me up!

Obviously I disagree with all of the UGIEA stuff. My posting history reflects that. However, the latest things added on when Bitar surrendered detail FTP"s issues such as greenlighting deposits when they couldn't get the money and the overall cash shortfall, all of which is documented elsewhere (subject poker for instance).

The DOJ was wrong and Black Friday was wrong obviously, that doesn't excuse Lederer and company using player funds as their personal slush fund. I thought that this late in the game most people understood this. Full Tilt stealing your money and the DOJ's actions are two separate things. Condemning FTP for their actions is not an endorsement of DOJ's actions.

Sure not many responses to her tweet. You are getting more in this thread than she is by tweeting.

So?

If there was a ton of random replies to her tweet, would you deem it as being more accurate?

here's hoping stars won't hold onto FTP for too long, only having one big site is terrible for the state of online poker in the long run imo, stars can do whatever they like atm

even if they are run independently, there will be no ambition to reduce rake or increase rakeback in order for one site to gain more customers than the other. for that you need true competition. they'll also need to try and balance player pools so that both sites are big and have plenty of players on at all times, which might mean they delay releasing innovations or change schedules to encourage some players to switch to the other site

all businesses want to be top dog, FTPs problem was more caused by greed of wanting more money than they actually had
100% agree with all of this.

If stars hangs on to FTP, although good for people with funds stuck on there, will be bad for everyone who plays online. Stars having a monopoly of online poker will not be good at all. Competition is needed to make things better for the consumer.

Points on a card when you fill up your car, reward vouchers through the post from shopping at the same store every week, all of that happens for companies to attract customers from other retailers, and is great as a consumer. If stars has both the sites then there will be nothing coming back, bar happy hours for 1 week, conveniently at times when stars rake income is at its lowest, and not at peak times when it would benefit the average customer the most.

FTP was amazing, flat rakeback, constant happy hours, the ironman promotion, and the newer things like ring game tickets etc. Those were the benefits to the FTP players because of the competition with stars.

I really miss full tilt :( 20-25k hand a month micro player who uses his fpps as best he can (235's), I've paid $1k rake this year and got about 15% back, and thats running ok in the 235's cashing 1/3 of the time.

That doesn't mean anything at all - replies to tweets never come in droves. What you can't see are the RT's - I saw plenty of them. Plus her tweet was quoted at multiple websites. She is well known and well respected in the poker industry.

Let's hope we aren't all forced to wait til tomorrow now lol. I am ready to create a new thread!

I tried to go to bed early so I could get up early in case it was announced early. Major fail - didn't get to sleep until 1am, woke at 3am for over an hour, then awake again before 6:30am. Never went back to sleep.

Pokerstars better make it worthwhile lol. I know a sure way to get an announcement out of them today. I can assure you that as soon as I fall asleep they will announce it - so everyone should make me take a nap later if they haven't announced anything yet.

And before anyone thinks I am so excited I can't sleep - wrong lol. I just know I need to be around to announce it here when it happens.

I have no idea when - or if it will happen at all - just being prepared because the odds look good.

All I know is that I love my job. This is the 1st time in years I have had to get up early for work - and hopefully the last time for several more years lol. :)

http://www.forbes.com/2010/02/10/internet-gambling-pokerstars-business-beltway-pokerstars.html

Pokerstars makes $500 million a year, and FTP was just as big as Stars. Once it's up and running they'll have covered the $360m in less than a year...

No way a new FTP without the US player pool generates as much rake as Stars currently.

The problem with your logic is that there is currently no real competition for Stars and no prospect for anyone else to buy FTP. So if Stars doesn't buy FTP there is zero competition and no one gets repayed.

The Stars monopoly over RoW online poker is going to exist no matter if they buy out FTP or not. It may exist in an open US market as well but buying FTP doesn't really ensure that although it does give Stars the chance to be in an open US market.

Probably a lot of recreational players that got burned by FTP failure and decided not to play poker anymore, but would come back to the tables, and specifically to the PS tables, if this goes through and they get their money back.

Also, once you have a near monopoly, you need to take care of the health of the market, not just of your immediate profit.
