So I went on a Norwegian cruise and they have these satellite tournaments going right now to get you to a big tournament sometime in November. I don’t plan on going on that November cruise so there was no reason to play the satellite for it, but they ran these satellites every chance they could during the cruise and I was kind of appalled by the structure of it.
100.00 buy in, start with T2,000, blinds start at 100-200 and double every 15 minutes, Antee started in round 2, big blind Antee.
I couldn’t believe they had like 40 players playing this crazy thing every time they ran it. I watched for a while and it went like I expected, all in fest. Not sure how many seats they gave out I think it was top 2.
Would you play if you had the chance?

Yep, that sounds like classic hyper-turbo all in contest. It's not a poker, it's just a gambling at this point.

I don't like satellites at all, but this type of satellites is a nightmare for anyone who takes poker seriously

Given a structure like that, I would likely skip competing in the satellite tournament. The big blind ante starts so early, the starting stack is relatively little and the blinds increase every 15 minutes, making it sound like a complete crapshoot. With 40 players in the mix, it creates the atmosphere you described where there isn't a lot of room for strategy or skill. However, I can see why they operate it in that manner. It maintains the pace and creates excitement, but it may be more annoying than enjoyable for seasoned poker players. If I wanted to play poker for the experience or for a shot at a tournament seat sure, I might give it a go, but if I was looking for a more thoughtful, strategic game, I'd probably skip it.

I'd only be playing that if the package included a cruise, kinda seems like a ripoff that even if you win you have to put up more money just to play in the game... kinda defeats the purpose of a satellite, you aren't saving any money really.

Yeah when I saw the structure I had to laugh and I couldn’t believe people were actually playing it. Starting with only 10 big blinds and then 15 min later it goes to 5 big blinds lol any serious player would skip it I’m sure.

No I would not play this, if I had to pay for it using my own money.
