The issue is multiway pots.

For example, the likelihood of AA winning heads up (against any hand) is very different vs a multiway pot. Sure your winnings will increase, but your chances of winning them go down substantially.

I'more comfortable shoving Q8o pre-flop agains the BB than calling a shove with  AA  in a hand with six shove-callers.

So while you're talking about range advantages, these advantages evaporate as each additional person enters the pot....and have the opportunity to further degrade with each street.

In bingo games, starting hand strength is vastly over-estimated/over-rated. People are shoving Ax from UTG. all the time...which may be fine when shoving from SB against BB....but it inappropriate from early position.

so while you're protecting that starting stack and waiting for normal-ish poker to resume, you watch and collect intel on your opponents. You take note of who is calling with rubbish...who is likely to fold to pressure...who bets their draws, who are the trappers, etc.
