In that order of importance.  You should always know computer ranges as default, but never want to use them. Money comes from weak players, and playing aginst weak players a LOT, not playing solver ranges, because that suggests your playing vs unexploitable players. Not good.

So, you always want to know how and why to deviate preflop, and find games where you need to, which is why it's a GOOD question

Lets take your example: If the BB and BU (most important positions to analyse) are tight, RFI wide. UTG normally you RFI 17% range, play a LJ range (rougly 22%). Same in the HJ ( normally 27% range) , now play a 32% CO range etc.

Now, this is rough advice without context. How much you increase your RFI % depends HUEGELY on opponent tendancy, stack size, ICM etc, and that IS the skill of cruishing tourney poker.

But, the big take homes are, IF the BB or SB are tight, RFI wider, and if they are calling too wide (and don't 3 bet), also raise wider.

If the BU and CO are wide.. RFI tighter, and if BU and CO are tight RFI wider.

If the BU and CO call too wide, your wide RFI means EV is distributed to the BB mainly.

If SB/BB calls wide, EV is distrubuted to you being IP Postflop >> your aim is to always do this as much as possible, OR get overfolds Preflop from nittyness :).
