Can't afford a dollar to enter a tournament? Well, pokerstars is now running $0.10 +$0 tournaments throwing in an extra $50 to the prize pool so as not to make it completly pointless. I'm very tempted to make more jokes about this, but I won't, as i'm currently playing in one and I just trippled up on the first hand with A4suited. What else can I say? I don't know if they're perminent or not, but they're running them until tomorrow at least.

I'm just a messenger.

Huh, interesting... how many entries have they been getting for these, and what does top prize work out to be?

I should be stopping by pokerstars more often. I deposited there and have yet to use it. Busy I guess.

they have a max of 2100. they one i played in had around 1500. they pay out to the top 20% and first prize was around $35. You had to make the final two tables to even make a dollar, but it's better then nothing.

2100 x 0.1 = $210 + $50 = $260 pool. Divided by 2100 = 12 cents per player (so $50 equates to extra 2 cents. You can find freerolls with bigger reward / effort ratios on most other sites.

I played in all 3 of these last night and it was hilarious. It's like mixing an Absolute freeroll with a 10 cent buy in. Two of the tourneys last night were in to the money before 1st break. There new 20% pay scale is cool, but if you want to play in one of these I would advise getting up early. Sitting out and closing the table. Your 12 to 30 cents will be in there later and it saves you a lot of aggravation playing so long for poop.

Let me break this down for the micro player in all of us. The last few nights I've played in these for shits and giggles. The one at 9:07 EST is usually in the money about 20 mins before the 1st break. The 10:07 is there 5 or so after the 1st break and the 11:07 seems to tighten up even more going to the money 30 mins after 1st break. Stars has just recently revamped these tourneys to pay 594 spots no matter what. So if you are a free roller these are defiantly for you.

They are a max 3,000 person tourneys, so 3000 X .10 = $300 + 50 = $350, top place gets a bit more than $50 if max is reached.

They are turbo tourneys, so blinds go up every 5 minutes. None should last more than 2 hours with the size of the blinds. It is a great place for beginners to practice and you only need to crack the top 500 to get your entry fee back. To actually make it worth while, you need to get to the final table to make anything over $1.00 (if you consider that worth while!!!)

I'm sure some of you will hate me, but I enter every single one of these that run while I am online.
I then proceed to see how many hands in a row I can go all-in.
The small fry's just hate it. and it's a great stress reliever! LOL.

i don't think anyone will hate you.

these tournaments need to be regarded for what they are.... meaningless. the turbo ones can be kind of fun if you can survive, but it's hard to play any sort of a strategy or even an intellegent game, and the pay outs aren't even close to worth it, so they'll generally be more frustrating then they're worth. they're just something to do.

I first saw these a few weeks ago and tried one or two. Not quite as bad as a normal freeroll, but close. After the first round it was down to 2 all ins a table. :)D ) but it was kinda fun.

These Nano limit tournies are popping up more often now I see. Absolute has a $.50 cent buy in and permits $.25 buy in private freerolls. I imagine some people will play tighter because the have to actually pay money to play. But, there will be those people who treat these tournies like 5/10 cent tables and play pretty much like it is a freeroll.

These tournys are great practice for people with a small bankroll. The play is weak tho so it might not teach you much. And its alot of time to put in for little pay out. But only paying .10 and possbily winning 25+ is a big profit margin.
