I know how you feel. My game has been improving over the years, but I am a really unlucky player. I get told all the time that it will even out over time, but whilst I do win with the best hand sometimes, and even get lucky on the river sometimes, I almost always find (particularly towards the later stages of tourneys) that I go in with the best hands, and no matter how I play them, get called by poor hands who have usually reraised me so they are all in only to find I am ahead ..... until the river!!

Then this will happen several times in a row and I go from one of the chip leaders - to out before the money. If I fold to the raises then I'm seen as a weak target, so that won't work either (but I do respect raises from players I respect or whose playstyle suggests they might have me beat, I'm not saying I call every allin or anything wild like that).

But, if I sit on my stack, at the high blinds, I'm blinded out anyway, so I can't seem to win.

I can get all the way through hours of game and remain in the top 10-20 of hundreds, even thousands, then ........ either nothing to fight with or a succession of bad beats. This has been going on for a loooooong time, so it's not a case of just waiting for the tide to turn. I've kind of just learned to accept it and now never invest in high stakes, is all. Shame but - hey.
I am also surprised by bots or robots that play or they are chosen from the very beginning as winners, having good luck with them. Not long ago I played a knockout tournament and there was a player at the table who played every other hand OL-in without jokes, he played with k-6 - 10-7 and so on. There were 1,000 people in the tournament and he made it to the final table with the top 1 stack and top 1 in batting, but you'd be mad with what cards he played or how often. Vision? Vryatli, just the system twists someone from the very beginning of the tournament.

You misunderstand, I don't always push allin: no raises b4 me - I raise (e.g KK, AQs, etc), THEY reraise allin after perhaps a single BB call - presumably to try to push me off my hand? I call. They show 42o (or T4, or 65) Flop hits me maybe gives me trips? They are now allin, so no more action, I am well ahead - they must be shitting it? BUT, by the river, they have a low str8 against my trip Ks, Q's or whatever.

Situations like this are NOT due to me playing poorly, (and I'm not saying I never play poorly, by the way), but they are very regular and consistent especially late game and I almost always lose by the river (I'm just unlucky, that's all there is to it).

There are many times I am responsible for poor play, of course, but those are not what I'm talking about here, it's when I have NO control anymore and am definitely the favourite by far, almost always end up losing the hand. I know you won't believe me, but it is true.

When I play PartyPoker and play with the Whizz app, sometimes I get so tired of hearing it tell me that 'I played the hand perfectly but they got lucky - onwards and upwards' or 'don't get mad, get even' or the various other comments it makes when I suffer a bad beat after a good play that it gives to try to comfort me and encourage me to keep playing as well as I can, that it's the APP that I get mad with (I'm used to it happening in the poker). But the constant comments from the app really feel like it's rubbing it in, lmao)

If you are in the late game like bubble or ITM situations you cant apply the same study that in Early stages .

On the early game you do calculations based on Chip EV, but on ITM you need to play differently because your chips already have money value. For example if you are CL but not by much you should play tighter against players that can get a big stack of yours.

Hope it helps

Yes, thank you. Of course, to throw the best hand on the flop just because someone re-raises you allin isn't good play either, or at least it's very weak - but I suppose it would allow me to get farther I suppose. Thank you.

It’s been a while since I posted this but therealyoshi has stopped playing on wsop PA since 2024. He is up over 200,000$ I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this? Was he caught cheating or colluding? His name is therealyoshi and his real name is Dean Morrow.

Just for those who dont know: If he moved out of Pennsylvania, he can no longer play on this site, because its a geofenced site. So if he still play online poker, he need to do it somewhere else.
Yea but Nevada if he moved to Las Vegas is now apart of that. Also if you could win almost every big tournament and be up over 200K in like a year or 2 would you quit or move? If I was dominating like that I know I would just stay put and keep kicking everyone’s asses. I think he was banned for cheating or colluding but the site won’t tell me

You can think, whatever you want, but you have no evidence, so its kind of a moot point. His results were very impressive with a total ROI of almost 40%, which is insanely good for stakes that high. But he also played no more than 2-3 tournaments per day on average, so maybe he just gave total priority to quality over quantity. Which is perhaps something, a lot of us low stakes grinders could learn from :)

fwiw, some of the other geo-fenced regions are VERY soft... and although the number of players is lower, you get a larger % of recreational players. ie. I know some guys who were (are) playing in Ontario, canada who previously were $14 abi winning players, but after 6mos. in on new Ontario only sites, they are playing abi ~$100 and play alotof the High Stakes MTT's up to $500's. From what I understand, it's not nearly as soft as it was when it first opened in July 2022

You already got some of the possible explanations. Since you apparently know his real name, you can look him up on Hendon Mob as well. Most of the events listed were online WSOP events, but he did play a few live MTTs and had his last cash in february 2024. So he stopped playing live tournaments more or less the same time, he stopped playing online on WSOP Pennsylvania, or at least he has not cashed since.

So most likely he simply got tired of poker and wanted to spend his time doing something else. Even winners stop sooner or later. He could also be dead or have left the USA and be living in a country, where its not feasible for him to play live tournaments. Hendon Mob list him as living in Pennsylvania, but for sure they only update the address, if and when he register for a new tournament somewhere.

Honestly I dont understand, why you are so obsessed with this player? Even if he was cheating and got banned, then its good, the site did this, and if he had some money confiscated, they were likely already distributed to affected players. At least this is, how other site tend to do it, when they ban someone for cheating. So time to move on and focus on something else :)

Well for one I played against him many times and never got a dime back. Also if he was cheating I want to know how or what he was doing like seeing others hole cards so I know if it’s possible that others might be doing the same thing. Just want some awareness about this I know everyone’s excited pokers back I certainly am but at the same
Time we know that a super user could see all the cards back in the day.

His stats are not a statistical improbability like those of Mike Postle or Potripper. He has a total ROI of around 40%, and this is not unheard of for MTT players over a small sample like 2.500 tournaments. I have almost similar results at 888 Poker just at much lower stakes. Also if there had been a super user scandal at WSOP Pennsylvania, I am pretty sure, we would all have heard about it.

Its completely standard, that poker sites dont tell the public, who they have banned and for what reason. When we know, someone was banned, its usually because, their identify is known, and after the sites took action the players admitted to having been banned and perhaps came up with some sort of apology for their multi accounting, use of RTA or whatever.

But this is a totally unknown player, who had a very short career in live poker tournaments basically playing the WSOP in Vegas in 2022 and 2023 plus a few other games. And then for whatever reason he stopped playing live poker in early 2024 and also stopped playing online at WSOP Pennsylvania, where he had really good results in high stakes MTTs over a period of 2½ years.

Its highly unlikely, someone could achieve such results without prior experience with online poker, so most likely he had been playing at other sites before and just decided to open an account on WSOP Pennsylvania, basically when the site opened its doors for players in mid 2021. And then in april 2024 he decided to stop, what had possibly already been a decade(s) long poker career. Or he passed away or moved to a place, from where he can no longer play on WSOP Pennsylvania.

We are kind of running in circles now, but I just dont see, that you have any real case, that this guy was cheating, or for that matter that other players were cheating on WSOP Pennsylvania. Going back to your original post from 2022 it said:
It just seems I'm unluckier because I watch these people and they win there all ins which propels them to the final tables.
But winning your all ins is not cheating or for that matter skills, its just luck. Even if someone know their opponents cards (AKA superuser), this does not mean, they win their all ins. It just mean, they can make better decisions, BEFORE putting their chips into the pot. Your "case" is basically based on the fact, he did really well, and then suddenly from one day to another he stopped playing.

And yes I will agree, that if someone is doing that well on a particular site, then I dont think, they would decide to completely give up on that site only to play on other sites instead. And being banned is one possible reason, why someone would go from playing on a site regularly to not playing there for more than a year at this time.

But when the same player simultaneously stop playing live poker, then it seems far more likely, that something else happened. We have already discussed some of the more obvious reasons. Another one could be, that he got married, and his wife insisted, she would not accept him playing any more poker. Or he got a revelation and realised, that gambling is a sin. Anything of that nature.

If I have to make a guess from his Hendon Mob history, then I dont think, this guy was ever a professional player. It seems like, he signed up for WSOP Pennsylvania shortly after, the site had opened, to participate in the online WSOP event, which took place in 2021 during the pandemic, because live casinos were closed and/or travel restricted.

Then he pretty much hit the homerun right out of the gate winning 30k in like his third tournament on the site, and never looked back after that. It also seems likely, that this success is, what gave him the desire and perhaps funding to play the live WSOP events in Vegas in 2022 and 2023 and then some more local live events after that. And then in 2024 it all stopped for one of the reasons already mentioned.
