Played this game for only the second or third time last night. What a load of rubbish. I've played games that have a stripped down deck before but 10 to ace only? What a load of rubbish.

It's a game for the fun players ;)

I had 5k early game open shoved into my AA, JTo took the pot though:ROFLMAO:
(I've just run the numbers, I was better than 7:3 favourite)

I am guessing you didn't do well last night with this variant. ;)

But really like any variant of poker - one needs to figure out the pivot points of the game and adjust accordingly.

Also like many variants - one can not play it like holdem.

Those are my big tips for you.

You're welcome!

Leaving that aside, I've had a terrible run recently, but only with hold 'em. Made the final table in the $2.20 PLO8 bounty again last night and took off some more money so am happy in that respect.

Just accept there is a lot more variance in Hold'Em, it's easier to know where you are at in a hand at PLO8 and weak players tend to play the game so badly they can't even get lucky vs you (freeroll spots etc.)

Comes back to the big differences between the games.

Royal Hold'em is just a fun version, it shouldn't be taken too seriously, I also just play for fun when there is a tournament like this.
You can't add too much cleverness, since this game uses 5x4=20 cards, which means with 6 people (including the burned cards) that all the cards are dealt and the hand that seems the weakest is J10...

It would be a lot better as a pot limit game, too much preflop shoving at early levels turns it all into bingo.

JTo is indeed the weakest starting hand in the game, bit of an exaggeration but it is the 72o of Royal, still get's 5k shoved all in pre at 10/20 blinds by some players though (re. my last game) :ROFLMAO:
