The structure of cash games is non-existent since the blinds never change. Depending on where you play there may be a bomb pot or a straddle for a little variance. If you don't quite "get" ring-games or their intention, it's really about players playing poker, period. Imagine playing w/some friends. Everyone sits down w/$20 or so and you play .05/.10. If you and your friends like to play poker, then you're about to have a bunch of fkng fun for $20 each. For me cash games are more about the game itself, not necessarily whether or not I make any money. I know that sounds crazy but that's about the only way I can look at it from a micro-low limit standpoint. If I was playing in a game where the limits were, let's say $2/$4 or better, where I'm sitting down w/$500 or more then I am looking to make some $, at least a double-up. If you've ever watched Tom Dwan play you probably notice that he mainly plays cash games. It's more of a "is the buy-in worth it for the time he's going to spend" kind of a thing. He can buy in to a cash game and make way more money quicker than he can in a trny, hoping to make a positive return. His last main event run is a good example of this. Of course $10K isn't crap to him but I'm sure he doesn't buy in for that "little" anywhere else. So I suppose it has to do w/the time you have vs the money you're willing to spend. How much is your time worth an hour? Finding a compromise is the path to the comfort zone, imo.
