You probably shouldn't be playing hypers unless you have a very strong understanding of short stack and ICM play or hate money. I'm a cash game player, I don't study MTTs, which is why I play free CC events. Also I do as you say, rely on my deep stack prowess from my cash game experience and try and accumulate chips early... With that said, I openly acknowledge it's a poor strategy because of how much EV and real world $ it loses down the stretch from not having the short stack skills I recommended MTT players work on. Also there's "Fish" at every blind level and ICM punts are the most expensive mistakes you can make in poker. I believe Kristen Foxen's WSOP main event FT punt was worth somewhere around $250,000 in ICM value for a $10,500 buy in Tournament... Is it possible that you're the fish in short stack and in ICM situations but you don't want to acknowledge it? The advice I gave is literally how to maximize your hourly which is all that matters to people who want to get the most out of their time at the poker table and is echoed by numerous poker pros not just people who are "pro" late reg in a thread. What you actually mean is you LIKE to reg at the start of MTTs because you find it more enjoyable at the cost of a lower hourly and being outclassed by players who focus on study short stack and ICM play down the stretch as most of the money is given out at the FT which you need a strong short stack and ICM game to reach with any regularity. Please find me a online MTT pro that says reg every MTT from the start and ICM shouldn't be a priority in your study... Meanwhile I'll take the advice of the numerous online MTT pros I talk to in discord that say short stack and ICM knowledge are essential cornerstones of their game. GL EDS
