Most winning players begin in the micros (<$5), then progress to low stakes ($5-20) and only then try to move in to mid stakes ($20-99) and high stakes ($100+). And some - including myself - never really make it boyond low stakes, because whenever we are about to try to move up, we need our bankroll for other purposes, or it does not work out well, so we move down again.

Winning online poker is a marathon not a sprint. So not understanding this might be your main problem, while tilt issues are only secondary. But if you actually entered the same tournament 22 times, thats defintely not a very good idea, because its almost impossible to not tilt, when you bust from the same game again and again. So maybe limit yourself to 1 or 2 reentries at most.

And if you still want to give online poker a chance, then make a realistic plan, that dont risk a lot more money. Like maybe start with a $500 bankroll and play only in the micros, until you have managed to grow it. You might also experience, that its less tilting to lose $5 at a time rather than $50. Maybe you can even eventually make back the $8.000, you lost, but it will realistically take years.
