When we move from the early stage of an MTT into the middle stage, the game dynamics completely change.
The blinds get higher, many stacks are in the 25–40 BB range, and the familiar "play tight and wait for strong hands" strategy stops bringing consistent results. At the same time, being overly aggressive often leads to running into stronger opponents or coolers.
I’ve noticed that the middle stage is where many players struggle the most: some become too tight and miss opportunities to steal blinds, while others start pushing too much and end up in uncomfortable spots.
I’d like to hear your thoughts:
What strategy works best for you in the middle stages of a tournament?
How do you find the balance between playing tight and applying aggressive pressure?
What mistakes do you think players most often make during this stage?
It seems to me that this is the point in a tournament where real skill shows: the ability to read table dynamics, adjust to opponents, and find the golden middle ground.
