Deep in a Tournament with 40bb – Aggression or Survival?

Yesterday I found myself deep in an online MTT with around 40 big blinds. Blinds were going up soon, and I kept asking myself – should I stay patient and wait for premium spots, or should I start applying pressure on shorter stacks to build up a chance for a final table?

I’m curious how other players approach this spot: do you see 40bb as a comfortable stack to take risks with, or do you prefer to lock down survival until pay jumps become more significant?

In that situation deep in a tournament with 40bb, and blinds going up soon, which it might is fast tournament, the better is to be aggressive and be a hunter of chips. If you play conservative game, you might lose your stack in a few hands.
