Big stacks don’t always mean smart play.

Saw several players with a huge number of chips who made crazy moves. In VIP games, patience still wins more than aggression shown. I'm better off surviving 5 challenging levels than flaring up on one.

I agree with you 100% however, I don't think this is limited to VIP games. I see this happens in all different games. With that in mind, I am tempted to move your thread to the general poker area?

I'm not sure. I think aggression should be occasional or controlled.

You're right, uncut aggression often leads to loss, unless the plataform is playing fool on us, then these guys make it to final table.

I totally agree with you. In VIP games, where the skill level is often higher and stacks can get deep, I’ve also noticed that some players become overconfident with big chip leads and start making unnecessary hero plays.

For me, patience and discipline still pay off more in the long run. I'd rather grind steadily through five tough levels than flame out trying to dominate one with reckless aggression. Survival gives you more chances to capitalize when the right moment actually comes.

Thanks for sharing — solid reminder that in poker, especially in tougher fields, consistency beats ego.

I've seen enough calling stations and turbomaniacs with like 100000000000000BBs. It is often amplified by the field, as maniacs among nits and calling stations among maniacs are no longer just fish, but renowned sophisticated players with a sound exploitative strategy.

If there isn't a wise management of stack, then even a huge stack can be vanished very easily!

Exactly. In these games, stacks can be deceptive. Surviving tough levels with patience often brings more value than making flashy plays and busting early

If you are patient and dont make moves, ultimately you will run out of gas.
Its a balance of aggression and patience.
Without luck both are useless.

High levels of aggression are required in poker, the trick is to know where and when to be aggressive and where and when to be passive as there is a time for both.

What you classify as a VIP I imagine you're doing so because they are aggressive and thus appear as tho they are giving their money away, however poker primarily revolves around the concept of "Fold equity" and the fact that it's hard to make a good hand means you can make a lot of money by getting the other players to fold.

I imagine if you jumped up and played a few hands at a stake much higher than you're playing now all the players would seem like aggressive VIP's, but that's just because they understand you probably don't have a hand, thus they can probably take the pot down with some well timed aggression.

Hope this helps

I totally agree! I see many players with big stacks making mistakes due to overconfidence. It’s important to keep analyzing each situation carefully and not get carried away just because of the stack size.

You need to be careful about the big stack... and take advantage of its mistakes...)
