The problem is, you dont actually really learn the game by playing freerolls. This forum is full of people, who have been playing freerolls for years, and they never make it any further. Which is fine, if your goal with poker is only to have some fun and relax. But if OPs goal is to eventually play for profit, then freerolls dont really help him to achieve that at all. Sure people can use freerolls or play money tables to learn the very basics of the game like hand ranking and reading boards. Noticing with a straight is possible, and when their two pair are counterfeited. Stuff like this. But to develop a winning strategy freerolls are close to 100% useless, because a lot of people play like, its not their money. Which makes sense, because its not :) Its also difficult to put in volume, if you only play freerolls, because obviously they dont run all the time on all sites. So if you dont want to risk any money at all, play money tables are actually a better option, because then at least you can get into some kind of grind. But I still think, its vastly better to deposit $100 and then start grinding away at either 2NL cash tables or $1 SnGs like the On Demand games on Pokerstars. There you will still play against recreational players, but there will also be some "regs", so that you learn to play against players, who are more serious with the game and play in a more standard way. Rather than someone going all-in preflop for 100BB with A7 offsuit because "LOL I have an ace". You dont need a bankroll to play freerolls, because they are free. And honestly also not to play $1 tournaments, since everybody should be able to pop another $20 or so into their poker account if needed. If that is not the case, then I seriously suggest fixing your financial problems first instead of playing poker. Poker is not the solution to being completely broke.
