Lately I’ve been facing a lot of very aggressive tables in MTTs where players are constantly 3-betting and applying pressure, even pretty early in the tournament. It feels like the “old school” tighter style just doesn’t work anymore because if you’re too passive, your stack slowly gets blinded down.
I’m curious how you guys usually adjust in these spots. Do you:
Tighten up and wait for strong value hands to punish the aggression?
Widen your 4-bet bluff range to fight back?
Or maybe flat more in position and try to outplay postflop?
I’ve been experimenting with mixing in more light 4-bets around 40–50bb stacks, but it feels super high variance. At the same time, if you only wait for premiums, you might miss a lot of good chip-earning spots.
What’s your preferred strategy when the whole table is playing loose-aggressive in the early/mid stages of a tournament?
