Hey CardsChat Fam,
Just had a rough one in a free-entry tourney (10K Prizepool). I was dealt Q7 of hearts and flopped a pair of 7s, which later turned into two pair (Queens and Sevens) by the river.
But my opponent?
He slow played Pocket Aces (AA) and nailed Trips (Three of a Kind Aces) on the flop itself!
Board: 7♣ 3♣ A♦ Q♥ 4♥
Me: Q♥ 7♥ → Two Pair
Villain: A♥ A♣ → Three of a Kind
I felt pretty strong on the turn with top two pair and committed heavily. But the trap was set and I walked right into it.
Lost a huge 106BB pot and busted out right near the bubble (Rank: 155/1313, Paid: 154 – so yeah... extra painful).
My Thoughts:
Should I have read the strength better post-flop?
Was calling or checking turn/river a better line?
Or was it just a cooler and nothing much I could do
Drop your thoughts, friends!
Have you ever been two-paired to death by a sneaky set?
Let’s discuss how to avoid such spots or minimize the damage.
