Its early in a tournament so there is no real read on any player and its the first hand you decide to play you get pocket queens and you raise before the flop. You have two people go all-in. Do you fold? or do you call?

I would fold. If you go all in, one of them and one of them has pocket kings or aces, you're in deep trouble. At least if you fold, one player will be out providing they don't split the pot with the same hands. It's hard to throw away pocket queens, but they don't win as often as they should. If you had pocket aces or kings, I would call.:rock:

That depends on the tournament. If it's a freeroll then I'd gamble, otherwise those ladys go in the muck.

With my little experience with online poker I have found that there are ocaasional isots who go all in tho scare the weaker players. Chances are pocket queens are the best hand. I would call.

From the experience I've had online generally the queens would still be good, I would call.
Perhaps this is more because of the smaller buyin tourneys I play in but in that situation
I would generally be expecting someone to flip over an AK/AQ/other smaller pair.

It would depend on the tourney. In a freeroll, where players are more loose, I would call.
In a bigger tourney, I would fold

I would agree with most of the posts here. In a freeroll there are so many guppies that use all ins way too often, especially very early. I think I would call then. In real money I think I would normally fold.

Definitely call...especially in a lower dollar tournament. This is also a point where meticulous note-taking on players from past tournaments might come in handy. Take notes on people, they may help you down the road.

If it was a freeroll its an easy call, otherwise I would have to take a little more time to think about it.

fold because there is no hand that is worth going on allin on preflop for first hand. all i can think is that on of the two men may have pp of something smaller that will most likely suck out on and the other person maybe playing with pp of As in which case you know your beat. toss them away and just be patient.

althought the baller move would be call and hope to tripup

I think i would fold its not cool to be out of the game on the first hand. So take it easy Its not the first hand of the game that matters but the last.

Excellent point. Rebuys allow you to step out on those limbs. If you bust out, you're a rebuy away from being right back where you started 1 minute before.

If it's a freeroll, I call - but only after taking as long as possible so other people bust first and I don;t finish dead last.

First hand of freeroll? Go for it. Usually the guppies are trying to catch crap and you stand a good chance to get theirs. And if you lose - oh well, sign up for the next freeroll

It's best off treating this as a serious tourney whether or not it is a freeroll.

Fold them. Wait for a better opportunity.

If it is rebuy tourney it is probably worth taking the shot to triple up. Heck if you come out the winner you are likely not to have to rebuy at all.

But what do you consider a better hand? You can lose on A-A, K-K, A-K. What it comes down to is how confident you are as a player. This is after all a game of chance and no matter what the hand is you hold you can still be beat. Luck is still a factor.

Here's an interesting point to consider. My first instinct would be to fold QQ in the face of two other all-in's very early in a tournament. I believe the first rule of tournament play is survival. Too many variables in a 3-handed all-in to put my tournament life at risk in the first two or three levels.

However, I asked myself, 'OK, if I would fold QQ to an all-in, would I also fold KK in the same situation?" And my gut reaction was, 'No. I would play the Kings.' Well, guess what? There's not much to support that decision other than my perception that KK is much stronger than QQ.

What are the percentages of my winning a hand that goes all the way to the river against two opponents, if I have one of the "Fantastic 4" starting hands? Let's look.

AA = 73.4%
KK = 68.9%
QQ = 64.9%

AKs = 50.7%

So, the next time that I have pocket Queens early in a tournament and have a decision as to whether to put all my chips at risk with them, I may be a little less inflexible about folding. Despite common wisdom to the contrary, perception is not always reality.

By the way, if you'd like to view the entire chart of possible starting hands and the winning percentages for each, based upon number of opponents, here's a link:

Thanks Rammer those odds speak for themselves. Q-Q is a very good hand at that point.

If its me honestly, I would fold. First thing to do in a freeroll is identify the loose cannons on the table. Yes, it might be a good chance that those 2 calling are exactly that and you might have a good chance to triple up your pot to get a good start, but unless you dont care what happens, then theres no point taking that chance with QQ. With 2 players all in, chances are they will have a K or an A or both and most of the time these are not the cards that will take out your pp Qs. Try not to leave things to chance, even if you have to, choose the best possible moment to do it. Fold, take your time, identify the morons on your table, jot down some notes about them, watch their betting patterns, wait for a good hand and the right time. Their chips are yours for the taking, you just need to be patient. Good players dont rely on luck, true u need luck, every poker player does, but dont rely on it to win you hands unless you absolutely have to. Im not saying theres a foolproof plan to do this. U might be calling with the best hand and your luck might not hold and get rivered, but dont rely on luck if youre not sure you have the best hand, if youre not sure, fold.

All the confidance in the world will not help you with any hand even AA. If some joker call all in with J4 and gets 2 pair on you.

Notice I said wait for a better opportunity. Not a better hand.

You have 2 people going all in. Yes you could spike 4 of a kind queens and get a nice chip stack. However if there is the chance you are facing AA or KK you are at a disadvantage in the hand. And if you lose you are out. Unless it is a rebuy.

In the first part of the tourney it is a matter of survival.
