Was playing a game at Titan. sng 2$ game had been playing a little while and was to the point i was being outdrawn all night with KK and AA so i just got a little frusttated. So the bb was 1000/sb 500 i was down to about 2k and was in the big blind got 85c so i just went all-in figured i would just bust out . flop comes 5,8,8 so i flop a full boat and won a little pot. I guess it ok to be lucky sometimes.

2k before or after you posted blind? If it was before then all-in is a no-brainer really. If you had 2k chips AFTER posting BB, you still wont have a better chance to stay in than just stick the money in and hope for the best.

In a sitngo last week at Stars and similar situation. Lost some good ones early being outdrawn and stack went down quicker than I liked so I just waited for the blinds to come around (no real hands dealt in between). All in the first time on 8 4 suited and drew the flush with 2 callers., folded small blind. Waited another round, raise to me in the BB again, all in on 7-10 suited and drew the straight. Didn't win it but got me the 2nd place money. As in many things, some days it's better to be lucky than good.
