UTG bluff

[Alon Ipser]

One of my plays lately is a bluff from UTG. I think that a strong play from UTG is hard for other players to call especially with a tight table image. Players may expect a bluff from late position or the small blind preflop but not from UTG postflop. The following hand is an example. My bad play here after thinking about it was that I did this very early in the tourny and hadn't projected an image yet. Is this a good play or have I just been getting lucky?

It was a very good bluff. This "Dstro" probably thought you got the flush. "Dstro" was probably chasing a straight and didn't get it. The key thing is betting big on the river. "Dstro" couldn't possibly call with a missed straight draw since he would have been all in if he did call. Nice play!

Flush? I don't see a flush. I think that was a good read that he was chasing a straight and you bet enough so he couldn't call with a blown draw or a low pair. You also got lucky that fourkings73 didn't call with his little pair.
