You answered your own question! You didnt mention the pre-flop bets, that would have told a lot as to the hand the other guy was holding. Regardless of this, you have top pair, straight and straight/flush draw. You had 17 outs to the flush/straight, making you a 66% fav to take down the pot. You also had top pair, if you dont call this then you shouldnt be playing!!

BTW, the other guy was also on the str draw and had top pair so he had every right to go all-in, especially with top pair.

Just got outdrawn mate, thats poker.

Colins right. You played it fine but you can't beat bad luck.

It is calls like this that can give you the boost to the final table, or the boot out the door! I my self am working on my game in this area. The bigest thing I have learned latley in MTT is if you are not willing to call down race situations like this one, you can't survive long enough to place in a 100 or 200 person tourney. The key is to know in each situation what the right call is, that is the hard part. I had a nice win last week @ FTP, and if it had not been for the willing ness to risk it all when I had high ev hands I know I would not have made it to the final table.
Not bad for a $5 buy in $210 payday.
