This flop is a shove---- Raising allows great odds for the draws- so we either call flop- shove blank turns or shove flop-we can have a draw so no Q is folding

Preflop
Its fine to just call here against a tight UTG open range. Folding is to tight, and if we 3-bet, we cant call a 4-bet.

Flop
The pot is so big, that after a bet and the call, there is only one bet left. So you can either call or shove, and in a 5-way pot I certainly dont want to slowplay, so for me it would be a shove. This time it did not matter, because SB did the shove for you, but next time just get it in yourself.

Results
Just a standard setup or cooler hand. This time he got there on his draw, good for him.

What about his play? Is that a good shove? A call would've been ok? Was the fold option too tight?

The opponents decision on the flop was pretty close. Against you he was paying 19,5k to win a pot of 55,5k, so he needed 35% equity to break even. He had an OESD and BDFD, which is essentially like having 9 outs. A 9 out draw does not quite have 35% against a set, but you having a set is the absolute worst case scenario for him, so its not a crazy jam by him, but near the bubble or on the final table he could have considered folding.

As for him just calling rather than shoving, it would make no difference, since he would have priced himself in to call a turn jam, even if he missed. And you should not have given him that opportunity in the first place. So analysing this hand its better to pretend, you shoved, and he called, because this is essentially, what happened from the perspective of both players.

The pot is already so big that you should shove on the flop.
Your bet was big enough anyway not to make much of a difference though.

Thanks man.

Really useful analysis.
