i was wondering if any members of this forum had tried any of the free types of software similar to this?and if it was any good?

Use the search feature and you will find a ton of people talking about FPDB(free poker DB), that is the only similar program to HEM/PT3 that I know of. All I can say is, you get what you pay for. In this case where it's free, you're obviously getting an inferior product.
