If you are like Lex Veldhuis and have the bankroll for such an option, maybe.
I think if he plays there (PokerStars) he has a flat in Belgium, I think.
I did not see him online the last 3 or 4 months.

But don´t go to germany, also heavily regulated.
Best option in Europe may be austria, Bulgaria, Romania possibly.

Romania ranks among the top countries in the world for internet speed, placing 10th globally in June 2025 for fixed internet, according to data from the Ookla platform. The country benefits from a robust digital infrastructure, with strategic investments that have contributed to cutting-edge performance, positioning it among the global elite in internet speed. And among the top in Europe.

I’d play on another site rather than leave the country. Try 888.

I would make myself familiar with GGPoker.
I prefered Stars also but they are in decline for years.
Mtts barely making their guaranteed prizepool, mostly it's overlay, they temporarily discontinued their flagship tournament the Sunday Million due to poor numbers.

On GGpoker however you have a broad selection of games, with almost any Mtt exceeding their guaranteed prizepool.
Also their rakeback program is far superior to the one from Stars.

But you're not the only one considering moving because PS closed their services
One funny guy here in the forum actually considers moving to argentina just for poker.

Suppose old habits die hard, that's why people still stick to PS.
I play there too sometimes still but moving because of a pokerroom? That's crazy to me ...

I can understand it for people who actually make a living with poker to see which country the best option has but for recreational players , that's just bullocks
My two cents on the issue 🙃

I think thats old news . Such players cannot play on pokerstars for some time now , many months . But I think it will be back . I think it's a punish because in the past OS operated in Holland without a government licence

Wondering how they weasel their way through Austrian legislations..
They operate here in Austria since the beginning of PS, without any license

I believe Phenom poker is available (lots of EU players online). It’s much lower volume - PLO 5/6 and mixed games but could be worth considering. Code INTHEMONEY for deposit match up to $2k. If you’re interested, would obviously appreciate you using my referral code – let me know if any questions

Only if you are a high-stakes pro that makes a lot of money.
Yeah except for this particular group the availability (or lack thereof) of online poker sites should hardly be the main thing determining, where you want to live. Even if every single online poker site was available, I would still not want to live in Afghanistan or Yemen for instance ;)

Leaving the netherlands just for one poker site is not a rational move. I hope not all poker sites are banned. If they are not, I believe you will find one that suits you.

To think that not long ago, Pokerstars was the best and largest poker room in the world. Practically anyone could play there. A series of incomprehensible decisions caused this poker room to lose much of its importance, and its glory days are now behind it.

Hi fellow Dutchmen,

If you would really go for it there are a few decent options.

Austria: better tax laws than the Netherlands + more websites to play on.
Malta: as above + live play possibilities
Cyprus: as above + live play possibilities
Las Vegas NV, USA: lot's of live games, not all online games though
