There is a variant of Open Face Chinese Poker called Pineapple. From wikipedia: Chinese: Open-face Chinese poker, OFCP, commonly known as Open Face Chinese or OFC, is a variant of Chinese Poker where players receive five cards to start and then one card at a time until each player has a 13 card hand legal or not. The game originated in Finland during the mid-200s and spread to Russia a few years later. Professional poker player Alex Kravchenko, who is credited with introducing the game to the Russian high-stakes community, describes the game as "spreading like a virus". The game was introduced to the United States in 2012.[2] Variations:

Pineapple Open Face Chinese poker (POFC) — For a maximum of three players. Each player is dealt five cards to start. Instead of being dealt one at a time players are dealt three cards at a time.[7] Players set two cards and discards one until 13 card hands are made. If a player achieves fantasyland the player receives 14 cards and discard one. Traditional OFC rules apply to enter fantasyland. Some players suggest AA+ as a minimum requirement. To remain in fantasyland requires three of a kind on top and/or four of a kind or better on the bottom. Full house in the middle does not qualify.
Double deck open face Chinese poker — in this variant two decks of cards are shuffled together and both used in the game, allowing more people to play, Double deck pineapple can also be played. Apart from this the games are played using the same rules as the single deck games. Some players suggest a AA+ as a minimum requirement for fantasy land. By using two decks it is possible to get 5 of a kind; some suggest giving this hand the same royalties as the straight flush.
As opposed to Pineapple: Pineapple variations Pineapple hold 'em exists halfway between Texas hold 'em and Omaha hold 'em and has been very popular in Australia and South America, specifically in Medellin, Colombia, where it was first introduced in a private poker room since 2010. Players are initially dealt three cards. Each player then discards one of the three cards (Pre-flop, Post-flop or at Showdown), and the game proceeds exactly as in Texas hold 'em.[9] In some regional variations, five cards are dealt, and one is discarded after flop, turn, and river, otherwise proceeding as usual Texas hold 'em. Pineapple Players discard their third (unwanted or unneeded) card pre-flop, before the first betting round. Crazy Pineapple Players discard their third (unwanted or unneeded) card after the flop, before the fourth community card is dealt. Tahoe (Lazy Pineapple) Players discard after the final betting round or at showdown so they may not use all three of them to make a hand. Each player may use none, one, or two cards from his hand (never three cards) combined with those on the board, to make his final five-card hand, just like in Texas hold 'em. In the variant known as "Super hold 'em", players can keep all 3 private cards throughout the play and may use all three cards to determine high hand. Now there are apparent inaccuracies in the article for Chinese Poker since I watched players on Poker After Dark discussing playing OFC well before the stated date of 2012 for introduction to the US - maybe they mean the first games spread in US Casinos, I don't know. All I'm saying is Pineapple is a game much like Hold 'Em, Open Face Chinese Pineapple is a variant of Open Face Chinese Poker which is nothing like Hold'Em. When using the term "Pineapple", as in: "Want to play Pineapple?", I think you should be referring to Pineapple or one of its variants and not OFC Pineapple. At least that is what anyone I've ever talked to in person about it or played against (Pineapple - I've never played OFC) would say. More importantly, it is what OP meant when this thread was created a year and a half ago. Maybe the new, online term is "Pineapple" for OFC Pineapple, but I doubt it.
