Wow. wow, wow! Day two of the $200K Coin River Invitational in the book and they could only get down to the final 16 instead of the final table - but I am sure everyone watching this is loving the way it played out as it has been enthralling. Something tangible has really set in with this series - it is beginning to feel like nothing can compete with Triton for entertainment and genuine excitement. The play has become more sophisticated and intense, the fields are expanding, unbelievable when the buy-ins are so high. Yet at the same time there is a loose spirit to proceedings, and today proved a classic example of the best of Triton. For every player who was serious and intense, there was another having fun and, largely thanks to Daniel Cates, getting just a little drunk. Cates had shown up as King Neptune (after Randy Savage-ing the WSOP) wearing a toga and what could only be described as a Disney Princess tiara cocked jauntily on his head instead of a crown. He then supplied a steady stream of expensive whiskey for himself and his table partners and they got boisterous. The dealers couldn't get the smiles off their faces. But heading to the bubble, in spite of the fact they are all virtually multi- millionaires, the ambition to beat the bubble really got the better of some. Ebony Kenney, the short stack doubled up through Chris Brewer and he literally had a mini breakdown for an extended period, head in hands and inconsolable. As he's made $6.5 million it's hardly about the cash, more the misstep and he indeed ended up as the bubble boy a few hands later. In the interim Leon Tsukurnic (owner Kings Casino) got rattled after losing a few hands in a row and called for a clock, apparently a knee jerk reaction as a clock has been in play the entire series. Then, the final hand today and what an exclamation point. Tony G all-in with A 10 suited called by Leon Tsukurnic with AK. The flop comes all clubs and Tony G has the nut straight. At that point Tony G (who naturally has been drinking also) was shouting he was 'the best' champagne for everyone ....though as it was already 3am I believe everyone was heading for their rooms. Fedor Holz is currently chip leader with Linus Loeliger, Sam Grafton, Seth Davies , Daniel Cates Tony G and Ebony Kenney (fantastic series she is having) left in the remaining 16. The $100K Main Event is to kick off today, so I am sure many who are in the remaining field of the $200K will be itching to late reg that as well. This series has been a thrill from start to finish. I know the Cyprus timeline renders it difficult to watch for many to watch live, but if you get the chance to catch some play, do so, it will be worth your while!
