What I don't understand is why you stick so much to the high points of Dwan which he has not sustained up to this date, while Cates has shown consistency and long term growth instead of huge swings, Now on to live just look at hendon mob results Dwan has far more cashes than Cates although Cates cashes include some large scores he does not play live and remains solely a online player basically while Dwan does both, another thing to think about is how much Dwan has lost in tourney buy-ins he has a lot of big scores in tourneys but think about how much of that money earned has been lost in buy-ins for events, So overall I think it's conclusive that Cates is the more consistent and aware player, Both are great in there own way, Daniel Negreanu himself says that he does not think Tom is one of the best in the world and that All the top pro heads up players just love the thought of playing him, Cates says he was good back in the day just like Blom may have been and that what he does now is not really too up to date, anyways here's an interesting interview with Cates talking about Dwan http://www.pokertube.com/videos/daniel-jungleman-cates-interview-on-tom-dwans-skill/ I enjoy the part at the end about Cates talking about Ben Grundy a successful player and how bad he is of a player online I stand by the stats from high stakes db and Cates owns Dwan!!! Much better poker player and if Cates wanted to I am sure he could be an amazing tourney player except he does not play them too frequently so not much to go on, Also Cates says that Dwan is a live player pretty much and does not want to do the math of online etc. these days but he does have a lot of live connections in Macau etc. And he mainly plays those nowaday's so I would have to conclude based on the fact that Cates does not play tourneys or live cash very much that Dwan wins by default although I believe strongly that Cates may just be better in this aspect as well if he played in comparison to Dwan, Basically Cates is better and honestly tell me anyone who says he is not a good player!!! while there are those who think Dwan is not one of the best these days, Cates also says he doesn't take part in the argument of who is the best though for many reasons he does not mention, I like Cates attitude a lot and I can conclude again Cates>>>Dwan :D
