There have been times in the past when it was hard to read Tsoukernik's character - he did some personal things which were dubious -drunken
gambling session which did not end well for instance. But, he always came across as a force of nature as an entrepreneur.
In the last few years I have warmed to him more but this gesture is something else, a real act of generosity. It was also great to hear from Eugene Katchalov, a player I have always liked and who I had no idea was raising his family in Ukraine.
One of the wearing aspects of being a refugee is the state of limbo they find themselves in. The idea someone is providing a year for you to take a time out, adjust to the new reality and plan for the future is invaluable.
