All the streamers play mid and high stakes that are profitable and there streaming subsidizes there income making it possible to do for a living. Plus the ones that are sponsored get so much tourney tickets comped and they sell there action too. People do lots of things to be able to play for a living. Its not as clear cut as playing freerolls until you build a bankroll and then never losing your bankroll until you make enough to live comfortably off of.You need to make a couple of big scores so you can invest the money and then bankroll yourself or live off the interest on the money invested for it to be profitable. Like Dnegs 2nd place finish in the one drop for 10 million. He can invest that money and easily get 100,000 in interest, or dividends every couple of months  At low and micro stakes you can play for hours and only min cash which doesnt work out to minimum wage or not much better. And when you do get that 8 -12 hour tourney win you only win like 500-1000. Cant really retire with that. And you cant rely on winning every low to microstakes tourney you play. Even these guys that do bankroll challenges they run 80 into 8000 or whatever starting with microstakes it takes them months to do so. Can you live off 8000 over months.
