I know, every poker type is welcome and there are a lot of personalities. But I had a strange incident last week. While playing playmoney games, a dude was freaking out because of a bad beat at the river. It's okay to be angry imo, but he was just over it, discriminating certain ethnicities, sexual orientation and sending death threats. All because of a playmoney game.

Have you ever witnessed something like that before?
I have often encountered such situations. If you think this is a rare occurrence, unfortunately, this is not the case. There are many inadequate characters among the players, and there are also those who can truly be considered mentally ill.

I read "play money poker game" and it's already starting to feel funny:LOL:
when you don't play for money you get stupid habits. Poker not for money is not poker. So give up this idea forever, as for the inadequate opponent, well, what can I say, there are different ones... you play poker, and this requires a lot of self-control... and you got upset that some inadequate person was rude to you? Are you serious?

I have seen this before, many have i think. Remember that it's not about the hand, poker, or anything related. They're probably very sad people, i try to feel sympathetic. It's like when you see somebody yelling at cashier for giving them the wrong change ... It's never about the 10 cents.

Unfortunately, toxic players are everywhere. I usually ignore or mute. It’s not worth getting stressed about it.

I was on a table with one of that type. He was throwing out the sexual orientation insults towards another player. As for me he hurled the "C" word my way. Of course he did that because I'd just beaten him in a couple of nice pots. :)

The worst I ever saw at a table, and the only one I've ever reported, was directing his comments towards a player from Israel. They were basically different variations of "Hitler had the right idea."

One time there was a player with the username "namblagambla". I didn't report them because they didn't respond in the chat to my queries about what they meant by "nambla". The only thing that I've ever seen that used for is as an acronym for the North American Man/Boy Love Association which is an organization of pedophiles.

How do I react in these situations <3 I’m just over here sipping my tea, watching your ego do cartwheels into self-destruct. Rude? Over play chips? Babe… your tilt is my tip jar. Free entertainment + a card game = a great Saturday afternoon :p <3

We cannot control other people, but we can control how we respond <3 and report. Report that every time <3 Wow, that would have been hard Emily <3 but I am sure you handled it with charm <3

I was shocked when I found out this was real back then. Only knew about it because of an old South Park episode

It certainly ruins the mood and I am quite sensitive to sudden mood changes inaproppriate for fair play in poker.

You're lucky. One afternoon back in the 80s I was sitting in a bar and Sally Jesse Raphael's show was on. Her guest was the spokesman for NAMBLA and he looked the part. I can still picture that creepy face. :(

Yeah, seen it too. Some players go way too far over fake money, just report and ignore the trolls.

Good tip, I believe new players are unaware of this feature.

I get constant hate for being Argentine all the time and I don't care, in poker none of that matters, because the game is the same, the one who makes the fewest mistakes wins, the one who stays calm (and with this I mean not tilting after a bad streak, or after a player throws things at you) and the one who plays good hands and doesn't always go in with just any hand.

They frequently use names with double meanings, whether as a xenophobic insult or of another nature, but when you put them in their place they play the victim because they are not up to the level of someone who knows how to play with pain, as the saying goes "they hit the wolf until it bites and then say it is bad."

There are plenty of idiots like that in poker, you just have to ignore them and that's it.

Until now, thanks to my “luck”, I haven't been touched by people like that, but that's a bad thing, to get mad about a game you decided to play knowing that one card can change everything, especially with fictitious chips. Although I admit that what motivated me to play poker for real money was the fact that in poker with fictitious chips no one took it seriously and always had a bad beat, but never insult anyone.

Just mute or ignore.
Their objective is to stress and make you made mistakes.
