Are online type of strategy and players with more "online" focus a bit different in terms of...l.well you have to be differentiating live vs. Online anyways. So, my question is, does online gut feeling ever work cayse I get 50-50 success rate with understanding river bluffs for example in higher stakes (usually mid stakes for poker standards)? Or simpler, online sensations may be related to "knowing timing" of opponents? I also have a tendency to approach agressively but does it help online comfort and all vs. live tourneys? Please advice. Thanks and hood luck woth online poker tourney management.

I don't think anybody knows what you are asking.

Players have more bluffs at higher stakes and are more balanced than players at lower stakes, who tend to bluff less and just call with a wider range.

In online poker you don't have the benefit of in-person tells that maybe the more novice players might display in live settings.

Unless you keep playing against the same people a lot, like what tends to happen at higher stakes, usually it is the fundamentals that make the most difference in how well you end up doing over the long term.

I am also not sure what the question is but can't add anything to Puzzlefish's answer, it is spot on.

Online "gut" might be subconscious pattern recognition.
You might be picking up on bet timing, line inconsistencies, stack depths, HUD stats, recent dynamics.

If you've played a lot of volume online, your brain starts picking up subtleties without explicitly thinking about them, then it can feel like a "gut reaction".
It's always best to try and rationalise about a hand (if you can) when you have a gut feeling rather just going with it.

Ok let me rephrase it. Can you have a feeling online but that is based more on statistics rather than facial expressions (and timing as well) ?

the reading of your opponent comes from his pre-flop, flop, turn and river actions. How is it expected to be played vs how he played it? The more you study more gutfeeling you will have hehehe

So, for example, say that you find over time that opponents that tank a long time and then raise your bet are rarely bluffing. That would maybe fit what you are thinking about.

i mean it can work if you use timing and sizing tells and know your opponents range well

Yes, but it feels a little bit awkward to then associate tells with a solid understanding of your opponent's play. Correct observation though.

Almost all my strategy online is based on facial expressions…tongue firmly in cheek…that might be why I don’t win often.
Good luck then and let me know of any tips to this.

There are times when I 'feel' I 'know" when an opponent hits a card, especially on the turn based on what feels like a hesitation then a check where they think of leading on a card they just hit. That said, for all I know they're playing 12 tables and just had a spot on a different table. You probably can't really put too much into it.

That's not to say timing tells don't exist - they certainly do but in general it's probably best not to put too much focus into that.

Great, so simple yet realistic, invest a small amount of effort. I might add some bluffs as well if you have tells of below average hands too.

Ideally your gut feelings are a result of experience, study, and your hud.

The more you play the better your pattern recognition should become.

Yeah, online play is definitely different from live. You can't rely on physical tells, so you have to rely more on betting patterns, timing tells, and how their range should look based on position and action.

That "gut feeling" you mentioned can come from subconsciously picking up on these patterns — like how fast someone bets or how their line doesn’t make sense. It’s not magic, it’s just experience showing up.

Aggression helps for sure, but online you need to balance it with good hand reading and understanding your opponents' tendencies. Over time, your "feel" for the game online improves as you see more spots and learn what to trust.
