Newer players will often assume they're much better than they actually are when coming off a good score and will often immediately jump up in buyin levels.  (play a $5 mtt, cash for $476 and now they're ready to play $50 & $100 MTT's).
As some others have already mentioned.   Discover what game you like playing.   Figure out what buyin level you feel you can compete with (as you move up it gets more difficult) and then choose how much you wish to keep in your poker bankroll to play with.  Often times a player taking down a decent win vs. the size of their buyins (like the example of 95x the buyin) won't affect the buyin levels they choose to play in future games.   Perhaps they withdraw anything over $500... or maybe they let the bankroll build to $1,000 where they then might choose to play an avg. buyin level of $10.
