While dealing at my local casino years ago there was a problem with players talking in their native language at the tables, at which time they were told to speak in English only.
I realize that there are many countries where English is not spoken, but have noticed that some players chat in their native language, which to me is annoying. The same could be said by a foreign language player being annoyed at English chatters.
Is there any way to prevent this, other than not allowing any chat during games?

Well are they chatting during hands?, or just chatting to each other?,

....don't think sitting silently staring at your cards during the game sounds like all kinds of fun,

a lot of casinos have english only but if they aren't talking during hands I don't think I'd care at all

Having a translation functionality in the poker room where chat messages would be translated automatically into your chosen language would be nice, but I don't see poker rooms ever committing the effort and expense of the software upgrades.

I don’t see a problem for players chatting in their native language…I do not chat primarily because my typing is so slow…now try that in a language that is not your native tongue…as long as players are not talking about their cards in collusion, I have no issue.

As far i know then in local casinos you should (only) use language(s) which dealer understands

I think only pokerstars has that chat feature, where it specifically reminds players to use English only. 📝 If someone breaks the rule, you can go ahead and report them. 🚨♠️

GGPoker is all-out on chat, or so I thought 💭. I've seen many times players speaking in their native language 👅.

I understand your point, but since this is an international community, players naturally use their native language. As long as it’s respectful and not disruptive, I think it should be fine.

I can't say how great it would be for poker sites to do simultaneous translation in the chat into the player's language, but it would be a good thing. Note: I don't even use chat, it's always hidden.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If you cannot understand what they are saying, how do you know if it’s respectful or derogatory?
Even the emojis can be disrespectful.

If you don’t understand what they are saying, how do you know they are not in collusion?
All I am saying is it would be nice to see what they are talking about - if it’s private, it should not be displayed.

I'm not sure what you mean by "if it's private it should not be displayed"....,

just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's a private conversation,

guess you could learn the language if you really want to know what they're talking about😎....,

but if they aren't talking during hands I don't just see where collusion is a concern,

you can even turn the whole chat off or just ignore it completely, if

you find emojis disrespectful in some way turn them off,

I think they're goofy but some people enjoy them👍
