And also if we go with this idea, then how long are we supposed to give the absent opponent to come back? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? An hour? Blinds go up, and at some point the tournament has to end.

However I will say, that for professional players there are some image concerns, especially if the game is being streamed on a delay. So I like, that for instance Vanessa Kade waited for a disconnected opponent to come back, when they were 3-handed in a Sunday Million Anniversary event a few years ago. But for the rest of us playing off the radar and for far less money, we can not expect our opponents to show that kind of gratitude towards us. So if the situation happen, we can just take their chips and be happy for the easy win.
