What do you think about fair play in poker during opponent disconnection?
I've seen a lot of news from professional players in big events that respect the opponent in a HU being absent and waiting for the connection to take a fair game.
And one more question! In the limits that you play, has it already happened? and if you respected or took all the opponent's chips?

Well I already have experienced some disconnections while playing a HU, but I have never seen an opponent waiting for me to come back.
And honestly I think I would do the same.

I've been disconnected several times, where I live it's very common to have a power outage or internet interruption, I don't remember anyone ever waiting for my return, if I'm not mistaken, in two tournaments in the dispute for first place, I played until I eliminated my opponent, they are able to play online

I have had opponents sit out during heads-up. But its far more common, that it happen with 3-9 players at the table. And then the sit-out player still get blinded away only more slowly. At the end of the day it is the responsibility of each player to have a reliable internet connection, and most sites even add extra time and stop the tournament clock, when someone disconnects. So I dont think, there is any particular need for "fair play" in this situation. And also if we go with this idea, then how long are we supposed to give the absent opponent to come back? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? An hour? Blinds go up, and at some point the tournament has to end.

However I will say, that for professional players there are some image concerns, especially if the game is being streamed on a delay. So I like, that for instance Vanessa Kade waited for a disconnected opponent to come back, when they were 3-handed in a Sunday Million Anniversary event a few years ago. But for the rest of us playing off the radar and for far less money, we can not expect our opponents to show that kind of gratitude towards us. So if the situation happen, we can just take their chips and be happy for the easy win.

Whenever I find myself in this situation, on either end, it's quite frustrating. If I'm waiting, then I'll give them a few to get reconnected or whatever. But I'm w/Hilary, I've never had any player wait on me if I was disconnected. I think I've lost over $500 or so due to getting disconnected; this being over a period of 10 yrs when I was playing on dial-up, lol. Aaahhhh, the good old days.

I have played online since the early -00s. Never heard of it before. I think this kind of gentleman's agreement only exists among friends or maybe some high-stakes players, there almost everyone knows each other, plus the money you can lose due to internet failure is substantial.

But if it's not agreed on beforehand blind that sucker out:devilish:
