Hi. I'm trying to figure out how an online operator could prevent this type of cheating (for a dissertation). I know certain websites have stopped using the disconnect al in, but this penalises a player who unintentionally disconnects as (particularly in heads up) a player can steal thier blinds by raising them.

Is there a way a casino could stop this or is this just a problem that cant be stopped? Any ideas would be great as I'm stuck here for ideas:icon_thum

Thanks
Andy

Why should it be stopped? It's not the other players fault his opponent has become disconnected. I had major disconnection problems last night and don't know if this was due to site or my internet connection, but it certainly wasn't fault of remaining players. You can't expect people to sit and wait whilst connection problems are sorted out (person could even just have turned computer off). Dropped connections are the major drawback of online vs real life play, but I dont think there is any solution.

This is one of the reasons I don't use my wireless connection to play. I would have all kinds of problems and finally hardwired my notebook to the router. My wife uses wireless on hers, but checking email and surfing horoscope sites are less critical (I think?) than playing poker for money. This is a reason I kind of dislike Empire as I've played SNGs where it waits forever for each player with connection issues...

And yes, I've been knocked out of a game before; however, that's the price we pay for online play...
