Got an HP Chromebook as a gift from my wife, but playing poker on it is almost impossible. Any suggestions for a better laptop brand for light gaming?
I would start up a new thread (post) and title it something like >> 'What are the minimum computer requirements needed to play on today's online
poker sites? (and) What are you personally using and it is adequate?'
You could also maybe add "if you had the means to do so, what upgrades would you like to make to your current setup?"
I think you'll receive a lot of good responses with some solid information. I'm sure that there are many Cardschat members who are trying to get by with the cheapest option possible while still being decent enough to play on.
I think you could get by with any Intel CPU (an i3 might be good enough, but preferably an i5) that is beyond 6th generation (ones prior to this will not be able to download upgrades soon)
Ram > 16GB (but you can probably get by with 8GB)
HardDrive > imo 250GB is more than enough (and honestly a 120GB SSD would be large enough and they're pretty cheap these days).
And you don't need a GPU for poker.
