I think AI is a bit of both. On one hand, solvers and training tools have already pushed the game forward by showing players new strategies and helping people study more effectively. The overall skill level in online poker has definitely gone up because of that. On the other hand, if AI starts being used in real-time at the tables, then it’s a serious threat. Nobody wants to play against a computer that always makes the “perfect” move. That would take the fun and fairness out of the game. So I guess it comes down to how sites handle it — AI as a study tool is great, but AI as a hidden opponent would destroy trust in online poker.
