Advantages of knowing multiple languages

I know several languages and several nations, which gives me an advantage when playing at the table with other people of different ethnicities, such as Russian and French speakers.

I could see knowing other languages may help, if there is a conversation you overhear at a break time, during a tourney or while you step away from a cash game, for a while.

However, most casinos don't let players speak any language other than English.

Like I agree, it could be useful, but I would not go out learning a new language just for poker.

I think you can have more information because you won't need to translate and so you can get more extra information from your opponents at the tables.

Some casino don’t allowed you speak other languages so I think that is small advantage

In person if I think it's an advantage, trying to get information with their way of speaking and gestures, but online doesn't change anything

It is an advantage in live poker for sure, i was at a table in Barcelona, playing a tourny that pokerstars held and was sitting between 2 frenchmen from france. They where talking between every hand, and I had never spoke to them all game, but was getting a lot of info about them. I even got involved with the one on my left, he was agressive and kept raising every street, I had kept calling til river where he went allin, I folded after a long tank, I had AQ but hadn t connected but my ace high could have been good against him, because of is earlier play. And he told is friend that he was glad I folded he only had 33.

A lot of sites have removed chat completely from their software and most mobile version don't have chat either.

I have never been in a situation in poker where my knowledge of French and German was of use. I have read that knowing and speaking more than one language is helpful in stimulating one's mind, thus delaying the onset of dementia...Das ist zehr gut.

Exactly , otherwise collusion is a real possibility. I saw on YouTube maybe 3 months ago a huge hand, and while one person might have not been involved , they were speaking Mandarin non-stop while American guy was deciding what to do

Good to use in real life, but the only language at poker tables whether online or live should be English.
