I've never played any live tournaments
Does anyone have any very valuable tips to give me when I am going to participate in one? And who thinks live is better than online?

Hi
Playing live is more difficult than online. If you have never played live, it will be strange and uncomfortable at first, but after a few hours of playing you will get used to it. In my opinion, playing live and playing online are fundamentally different games.

Oi
Thank you for helping me understand a bit about the differences. In my perception from the outside, live is certainly more difficult.

Obviously live poker is different. You can't really show them your emotions. Smile when flop is good? say something like damn again bad hand! So yeah....poker face it is. Now it will be your first time and altho I didn't play on real life tournament I did play with friends for some cash for fun. Good players can read you trough your nervousness. hands shaking, if your voice is unstable etc. But I doubt there will be professionals, so just relax and play your style. Take it slowly until you don't get more comfortable. Good luck!

Enjoy yourself, and don't be afraid to ask questions. There are a few tips to remember though.

1 - Never discuss a hand while it is in progress. This applies even if you are head to head.
2 - Announce raise or call when placing your chips inside the betting area. That will make your intention clear.
3 - If you have the habit of tapping your finger(s) when thinking, get rid of it or the dealer might take it as a "check".
4 - Make sure to protect your cards so other players cannot see them when you peek.
5 - Whether you win or lose a pot, be gracious to the other person.
6 - HAVE FUN!!

If this is not a tournament at a poker club near your home, then you need to get a good night's sleep before the trip and eat well, but not too much. In all hands it is better to act approximately the same, not too fast and not too slow; try not to make any unnecessary movements that could give clues to your opponents about the strength of your cards. And maybe it’s better to wear dark glasses ))

I would also advise you to count the chips in pots yourself, because dealers can sometimes make mistakes. And it’s always better to put chips into the pot in one motion and declare a raise, otherwise your bet may be considered a call, preventing you from raising!

Playing live is no different from playing online. In my point of view, what changes is because you can see your opponents' expressions and thus you can more easily know if their play is a bluff or value.

Like it's been said already, ask questions and also be open to being corrected. It's common to fold, call or raise out of turn. Try to focus on when its your turn to act, and announce your action. I think live poker is more difficult and uncomfortable (getting more comfortable, but still wish online poker for real money would be legal everywhere). Let dealer give you the pot when you win a hand and don't reach in (I've done this before, LOL). Its difficult at first to keep track of the amount of chips in pot. Most important, enjoy the experience and be positive.

Young online poker players probably like yourself are usually way more aggressive than the older regulars and young players have studied, know the math and theory better. The older regulars usually know how to read people though. Some casinos have a lot of tourists who just want to say they played, these are the fish you will prey upon. Good hunting!

Live poker is so much more fun. You can try to read people, try to have a good "poker face". I try not to get too chatty with people around the table personally. It will also seem a lot slower

The CC Youtube channel have a few videos with tips to first time live poker players. Needless to say the most important adjustments are getting used to the whole live environment including, how to handle your chips and keep track of the pot size as well as other players stacks. Online the numbers are right in front of you, but not so in live poker obviously. As for strategy its still poker, so the biggest mistake would be to think, you have to do something completely different, just because its live poker.
