[QUOTE="thetick33, post: 7019724, member: 92982"] I dont think you can prepare for a live play tournament....You can try to be at best health etc...Two big things you dont feel or see online....First is all the folding how long it takes for each hand etc....You can go hours without playing a hand....2nd we play online multiple tables whatever...Most tournaments are 3-4 hours.....basically even beating 12,000 which ive done at pokerstars and playing 8-9 hours does NOT prepare you for live play game or even one full day imo....You might have days though also 5 of them etc...You just have to go and work it honestly learn it...Take notes on what you notice....Live and online are two different animals to me I prefer live get more tells on people etc...I like the pace plenty of time to think..I like to talk so figure out who they are as people...I was so confident at one point live I actually went to tables believing fully that your wallet you brought to a table was MINE that is how big ego I had....Met some guru's played johnny chan once lol...Saw real minds in this game....I held own 8 months coming out a bit ahead on 2/4 3/5 holdem daily rake...with same pro group...But ya not sure how to be ready for that or tournaments over online. Just so different...Is easy to go all in online you can just go to next game etc...You have to think a lot more live imo...I had rules 4 buy ins for cash 2 reloads for tourneys if allowed etc..certain amount of time not hitting money wanted take rest of day off etc...The patience to win a tournament live few days tournament __--- played a guy heads up a full day 9 hours to win an event...that patience throwing out 5 risky chances where he might have caught beat me? You cant learn that except by application imo....i won over 50 tournaments head to head at one point...Aggression but laying down certain times when sure was ahead cause i KNEW i was the better player had reads id tell them this the psychological part im laying down this monster i know i got you but you might catch.....annie duke taught me this side when first got sick playing me at ultimate bet at nights....teaching me more on psychological side and that side can make you a giant...imo you have to have image presence and one thing if getting lucky sometimes show your lucky...sometimes show a bluff for the other reason etc...reading is everything live but you can use your mind to win a war before the battle even begins let them KNOW you are better then them etc...or try to :) online you can pretty much figure out your odds of winning a tournament how many need to play to get a top finish etc...you can go months good pros have went years not making a final table...its rough rake to me is a lot easier and omaha is best for fast rising....being in a down swing live is just mind blowing when know your doing all you can and correctly but you do NOT play enough times cause of your time or your bankroll? etc..these are all considerations to prepare...even the best in world aint gonna win even if play 8 10k tournaments you might not final one of them...but if you do life can change that is for sure:) biggest thing is confidence even arrogance as long as people dont hate you...especially rake be nice etc..be able to judge people who they really are why are they there....finding victims can be true profit but if they hate you they might not sit at your table etc...
